I have always been slow to replace my home goods for eco-conscious options and bedding is no exception. A couple of weeks ago I decided to up my game. I needed to replace my sheets and figured this would be a great opportunity. I’ve always opted for 100% cotton sheets which are not only harmful to produce but use lots of energy and water. Even organic cotton? The answer is YES.
After conducting my online research, I opted for organic bamboo sheets from ettitude. Why? I figured why not, they come with a 30-day guarantee. I ordered a sheet set in pepper for my queen bed two weeks ago and they came pre-washed but I decided to wash them again. I was impressed with the silk-like texture and the other bonus – my sheets came in this cute little drawstring bag for storage!
My first night sleeping on ettitude sheets
I suffer from eczema and dermatitis. I am usually hot, itchy, and toss and turn almost every single night. I didn’t wake up once in the middle of the night and have not since. Also, I didn’t sweat at all which is amazing because I feel like it's what I do best in the summer. Atlanta summers are not a joke! More importantly, I usually wake up with pillow marks on my face and frizzy hair. You guessed it – that didn’t happen either. Needless to say, I am pleasantly surprised with this Aussie company and the quality of their sheets.
Sleeping in a cozy bamboo kingdom makes me smile as I (slowly) save the planet with my vegan sheets. Ettitude sheets are made with bamboo lyocell fiber. Why should you care about this? Because it is softer than cotton, uses less resources to make, anti-microbial, hypoallergenic and perfect for sensitive skin.
The takeaway
These are not sheets you will toss at the end of year and definitely worth the investment – they put my Egyptian cotton sheets to shame. I just ordered my second set (in blue nights) and I am excited to try the bamboo lyocell robe next.
